Texas Roadhouse Rolls with Cinnamon Honey Butter (Copycat Recipe)
Texas Roadhouse Rolls with Cinnamon Honey Butter …
Texas Roadhouse Rolls with a whopping amount of Cinnamon Honey Butter is one of our son’s most favorite things! In the four years and summers, he has spent away at college, Texas Roadhouse was always his most requested chain restaurant to eat at when we would visit him. He would certainly order lunch but always asked for an extra batch of these sweet rolls and honey cinnamon butter before AND after the meal (to take home with him)! Corey and I would crack up every single time! But it prompted my sweet husband to create a copycat recipe of our son’s most beloved and delicious rolls so he would be able to bake them anytime he’d like! Now, that’s love!
There are many copycat Texas Roadhouse Rolls recipes and homemade Cinnamon Honey Butter out there {evidentally Tyler is not the only one obsessed!} and we’ve tried and sampled a bunch of them. Corey’s creation here seems to be the closest we could come to the original taste and was the only version to win the approval of our roll-connoisseur son!
We hope you enjoy these delicious homemade dinner rolls {and the cinnamon honey butter recipe} as much as we do!

How to make this copycat version of Texas Roadhouse Rolls with Cinnamon Honey Butter?
Here’s the first step to these homemade rolls:
- Heat the milk to at least 180° F either over the stove or in the microwave; careful not to scald milk. Once it reaches the desired temperature, add the 2 tablespoons of softened butter. Allow it to rest and cool to about 120° F.
2. In a small bowl, add warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir to combine and dissolve the yeast into the mixture. Allow it to rest for about 10 minutes or until the yeast mixture starts to foam.
3. Using a stand electric mixer with a dough hook attachment (or you can use a hand mixer with a bread hook), combine the yeast, milk, sugar, salt, and 1 cup of flour in the bowl of the stand mixer, for about 1 minute at low speed. Then beat in the egg.
4. Add 2 more cups of flour, one cup at a time. Be sure to scrape down the sides with a spatula as you add additional flour.
5. Continue to add flour ½ cup at a time at low speed until the dough forms and pulls away clean from the sides of the mixing bowl.
Recipe Note: Based on the current humidity in your environment, you may not need all of the flour. Stop adding flour when the dough pulls away clean from the sides.
6. Then increase the speed of the mixer to medium speed, kneading the dough with the dough hook for about 4 minutes or until the dough is smooth in texture.
7. Using a separate large bowl, spray the bowl with non-stick cooking spray. Dust a clean counter space with flour (including the palms of your hands) and turn the dough out onto the floured work surface.
8. Roll dough and form into a ball with your hands and then transfer to the greased bowl. Turn dough over once in the bowl to coat the entire dough ball with the oil from the spray. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a clean damp cloth. Set aside in a warm place for about 1 hour or until the dough has doubled in size.
9. Lightly spray a large baking sheet (or 2 smaller cookie sheets) with non-stick cooking spray.
10, Punch dough down to push out the air and turn it out onto a floured work surface. Dust a rolling pin and your hands with flour as well. Place dough on the work surface and roll the soft dough out to ½-inch thickness. Cut out squares or rectangles of dough to your desired size with a pizza cutter or a dough scraper.
11. Shape the rectangles by folding the short edges under, meeting in the middle to make a round shape on the top of the dinner roll.
12. Transfer each roll to the prepared baking sheets, allowing space between your placement. Cover with plastic wrap (or a plastic shower cap) and allow to sit and double in size for about 15 minutes.
13. Preheat the oven to 350° F. Bake for about 12 to 15 minutes. You will see the dough rise into deep golden brown fluffy rolls. While the Texas Roadhouse Rolls are baking, begin to prepare the Cinnamon Honey Butter.
14. Remove the hot rolls from the oven and brush the tops of each dinner roll immediately with melted butter. Serve with Cinnamon Honey Butter {see recipe below}.
