What do you need to make Maple Bacon Pecan Brussels Sprouts?
Here is what you’ll need from the grocery store:
- Bacon, 1 pound bacon – cut into 1-inch pieces
- Brussels sprouts, 1 pound Brussels sprouts – cut in half
- Extra virgin olive oil, 1/4 cup olive oil
- Pure maple syrup, 1/2 maple syrup
- Pecan halves, 1 cup pecan halves
- Kosher salt, 1 teaspoon salt
- Black pepper, 1 teaspoon pepper
- Ground cloves, 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
How do you make this easy Maple Bacon Brussels Sprouts recipe?
- Fry the bacon in the largest skillet you have over medium heat. When the bacon is almost crispy, remove with tongs and transfer to a separate plate. Remove about half of the bacon grease from the pan.
- Add the olive oil to the same skillet with the bacon grease. Drop in the Brussels sprouts with the cut side facing down. Increase the temperature to medium-high heat and allow the Brussels sprouts to sit there without stirring for about 5 minutes to create a nice char to the bottom.
- Once browned and charred, begin to flip each of them over to cook on all sides. Continue to turn and stir for about 5 minutes to soften the Brussels sprouts and allow them to soak up the flavors from the pan.
- Stir in the bacon, maple syrup, pecans, salt, pepper, and ground cloves. Reduce to medium heat and continue stirring until all of the sprouts, pecans, and bacon are covered in the maple syrup.
- Remove from heat and serve immediately.
